Now that the bat rescue season has calmed down (a bit!) we as a group are now turning our attention to bat group tasks:
- Halloween bat events
- Winter training events for volunteers
- Swarming and hibernation surveys
- Bat box monitoring
- November Committee Meeting
- Winter Newsletter edition of ‘The Leisler’ for members
- Installing new flight cages at our four bat hospitals
First up is Halloween…. this year has been anything but normal so we have had to adapt to the way we work as volunteers and now how we offer batty events during our busy season.
We will host virtual workshops on Halloween Day Saturday 31st October. Videos will be posted throughout the day ranging from making batty pancakes, virtual bat talk and walk, meet a rescued bat, make a bat mask and toilet roll holder bat.
Winter training will be available online for our existing volunteers to include Introduction to bat care, bat handling, delivering a bat talk, leading a bat walk and using bat detectors.
For new volunteers we will host a bat ambulance training workshop and introduction to bat detecting.
