Spring has sprung and with it, our wee furry babies have started emerging from hibernation!
A bat was seen flying around Parkanaur Forest Park, Dungannon at 4pm during the day. Big thanks to Glenda Hall for spotting this and bringing it to our attention. Judging by the wing shape, size of the bat, distance between the ears and height of flight we suspect it is a Leisler’s bat.
Whilst this is unusual, sometimes bats can be seen during the day, especially at this time of year. They could be just having a quick snack or it could be linked to disturbance. If you see bats flying around during the day, please report it to us so we can add it to our records and investigate.
Details on how to report bats to the Northern Ireland Bat Group can be found here.
