We have been very busy over the past 6 months, delivering events and workshops across Northern Ireland including:
Bats a Fact
15 primary schools in Derry, Strabane, Ballykelly and Omagh took part in our ‘Bats a Fact’ workshop funded by NIEA Challenge Fund 2014. We created a batty cafe in each school and played lots of fun batty games. We also showcased our fabulous new exhibition which depicts where bats live, a view inside a ‘bat box’. batty myths and how you can help bats.
Batty craft activities
We attended lots of organised events including ‘A Country Forage Day’ in Ardmore organised by Faughan Valley Landscape Partnership in April and ‘Batty about bats’ event in Lissan House in May. We had lots of fun activities for kids including making a bat mask, batty food game and quiz.
“Legenderry” Clipper Maritime Festival June 2014
Derry City Council estimated the event had over 100 000 visitors; we were delighted to be part of the celebrations! We had a great time with Creggan Country Park – lots of people interested in bats and a lot of people even requesting bat boxes – fantastic! A big thank you to everyone who visited our stall over the 2 days and of course to our wonderful volunteers, Caoimhe and Mairead Parke, Robin Moffitt, Ursula Moffitt and Maria Prince; we couldn’t have done it without you! A big thank you to Lisa Worledge from Bat Conservation Trust for the loan of the bat costume – it looks fab!
